Executive Chef, Novelty Hill - Januik

Novelty Hill-Januik’s executive chef Megan Hartz leads the winery’s culinary program. Relying on fresh, local and sustainable ingredients, Megan's creative menus and culinary instruction showcase how complementary food and wine pairings work together to enhance flavors and textures.

Megan joined Novelty Hill-Januik in the spring of 2011, bringing a rich culinary background with her. A native of Chicago, Megan moved to Seattle in 2000 to follow her passion for cooking and enrolled in the Art Institute’s culinary program. Most recently, she served as the catering chef at The Ruins, a prestigious private Seattle dining club. The position afforded her an opportunity to create all types of cuisine for a variety of groups and events of various sizes and interests. Megan has also cooked for the Seattle Mariners (and opposing teams), owned and operated her own catering and private chef business, and studied and cooked vegetarian, vegan and raw food diets at Bastyr University, an accredited private institution internationally recognized as a pioneer in the study of natural health. She is a member of Chef Collaborative and has participated in events to benefit area non-profits including Farestart, Women's Alliance and Sunset Supper.

In addition to overseeing culinary service for private events at the winery, Megan will create unique dining opportunities for winery guests, offer wine and food pairing seminars, and conduct cooking classes from the winery’s demonstration kitchen.
